Looking at my closet the other day I realized that I have an overwhelming number of things. I began decluttering, but I'm always nervous to get rid of clothing because it seems like once I get rid of it I find out I need it again. So I did some research to find out the basic essentials that have to stay.I thought I would share with you the list that I have compiled.
A Black Blazer
It literally goes with EVERYTHING! You can dress it up or down, just make sure that it fits you correctly and the sleeves are the right link or you will look sloppy.
A Print Scarf
Leopard is really the most versatile, but anything black and white, or grey will work. Adding accessories can really change an outfit and make you look more put together.
I know everyone goes for black, but they really give you that pop and sizzle, and they will work for any season.
A Striped Shirt
This classic piece will save you more than you know! It looks great paired with brights or prints or peeking out from underneath a blazer." Stripes are really making a comeback! I prefer horizontal stripes because I'm so short, but either is fine.
A Statement Necklace
It's not a new outfit that you need it's new accessories. I have several pieces in my closet I have had for many years that are still very stylish for today. When I keep it that long I can afford to invest in quality and then change up my accessories to suit modern fashion. You can find costume jewelry very inexpensively if you know where to look!
A Little Black Dress
Find one that is really unique to you. Every woman knows she has to have one, so the fun is that little unique embellishment or sleeve detail that really makes it stand out. This is worth putting a little investment into because chances are you will use it a couple times a year and it will never go out of style.
Black Opaque Tights
These will make your legs look longer and slimmer. Also you can get away with a shorter dress. Double them up in the winter to keep you snug as a bug in a rug. I have been working on my collection of patterned tights as well, they look super sexy and feminine under a pair of shredded jeans.
An Oversize Watch
Not only will it keep you on schedule, but it works well as an accessory. Try wearing it loose like a bracelet.
A Classic Trench Coat
It looks fabulous over suits and jeans and if you get one that cinches at the waist it will really accentuate your figure.
They are so flattering with wedges so you can look classy while still being comfortable.
I hope this helps you as much as it helped me. I was able to clear out a lot of my closet and still feel prepared.
Have a fabulous day ladies!
